These guidelines keep the directory useful and trustworthy for everyone. Every listing and review on DMV Business Connect must follow them.
Who can list
- Real businesses and independent professionals that serve customers in DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia.
- Only the owner, or someone authorized by the owner, may create or claim a listing.
- One listing per business location. Multiple locations may each have their own listing.
What a listing must include
- The legal or trading name customers know you by, not keyword-stuffed names.
- A working phone number, email or website.
- An accurate address or service area, and the correct category.
- Honest, current hours of operation.
What’s not allowed
- False or misleading claims about licenses, awards, prices or services.
- Photos or logos you don’t own or have permission to use.
- Illegal products or services, adult content, or anything discriminatory or hateful.
- Fake, incentivized or self-written reviews, or reviews attacking competitors.
- Duplicate listings created to take up more space in search.
Licensed trades
Contractors, electricians, plumbers, HVAC and other licensed trades should show only license numbers that are current and valid in the jurisdictions they serve. We may ask for proof.
Reviews
Reviews must describe a real, first-hand experience. We remove reviews that are fake, off-topic, contain personal information, or include abusive language. We do not remove reviews only because they are negative.
Enforcement
We may edit, suspend or remove listings or reviews that break these guidelines, and close repeat offenders’ accounts. To report a listing or review, email support@dmvbizconnect.com.
