Ben's Chili Bowl is a family-owned Washington landmark opened on U Street in 1958 by newlyweds Ben and Virginia Ali.
The casual diner is famous for its chili half-smoke, chili dogs, chili cheese fries and thick milkshakes. The original U Street location is still run by the Ali family, and the business also offers catering, takeout and group dining for locals and visitors.
